Santa Fe Railway

The mainline of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway stretches across the midsection of Illinois, running from Chicago to Fort Madison, Iowa. Because of the principal routes for hot mail and parcel traffic to the West coast, the Santa Fe will always be synonymous with fast intermodal trains, but plenty of manifest and unit train traffic can be found as well. Once the proud route of the bi-level Super Chief passenger trains, the Santa Fe still hosted one of Amtrak's premier Chicago to Los Angeles trains. Additional traffic carried on this line is run-through traffic that is interchanged with Conrail at Streator, Illinois.
